The first season focused on Anandi and Jagdish, who were married in childhood. ‘ Chinnari Pellikuthuru’ is one of the most popular serial telecasting in MAA TV from 7:00 PM – 7:30 PM IST. The origin of the serial is from ‘Balika Vadhu', which premiered on 21 July 2008 on Colors TV, a Hindi television channel. Chinnari Pellikuthuru is the journey of the life of child bride Anandi from her childhood to womanhood.
Anandi, who had got married at the age of eight, had to accept and adjust herself into a new family of strangers and accept different roles in her life. As a young adult, she wants to carve herself with her own identity to the world instead of being like others.‘Chinnari Pellikuthuru’ statically narrates the story of children who are unwillingly forced to marry in their childhood as per their tradition, and have to bear the results for the rest of their lives. The story got inspired from the life of Purnendu Shekhar's mother, who is the writer of this story. His mother got married at an age of 15 years. He believed that the electronic media can bring dramatic changes in the standard life of women in rural India, owing to which he deeply felt while involved in her life. A quote will be displayed daily at the end of each episode.This represents the theme of that episode and gives a relevant message for the society, which is aspiring for the viewers. These quotes were given by Purnendu Shekhar's father.
